2017 Sungrak Summer Camp: “Jesus Christ’s Healing and Holy Signs”

The 25th of July marked the start of the annual Summer Camp. The theme this year was Jesus Christ’s Healing and Holy Signs. Despite this year’s Summer Camp being particularly caught up amongst difficult times in the church, the wearied Sungrak people had still been waiting with expectancy several weeks before the camp.

The first phase of the Summer Camp (July 25 – 28) took place at the MongSanPo Camp center. Despite the divided state of the church, this year’s Summer Camp turned out to have a large attendance of Sungrak people compared to previous years.
Everyone prayed earnestly that their souls, their families, and their church would be restored. Moreover, focusing on the praise ministry of the Ye-Il congregation and the spiritual preaching of overseer Ki-dong Kim, grace was abundantly evident during this 4-day period.

During the first phase of the Summer Camp, the evening worship consisted not just of a time focused on healings and signs, but a healing crusade, a united prayer session, the laying on of hands, the expulsion of demons and many more events took place in order to achieve spiritual restoration.

Additionally, taking a walk on the beach, using the swimming pool, the usage of the convenience store, and many other facilities were used to provide leisure for the saints.

The second phase of the Summer Camp (July 31 – Aug 3) took place especially in the Christian World Mission Center in Seoul. The accommodation was offered at the Leader Center and at the lobby of CWMC as camp site for people attending from distant provinces.
The saints who used the facilities gave good feedbacks: “The facilities were great, the place was huge, we really liked it. There were people saying it was better than a hotel.” “There were free drinks, there was a calligraphy class, and we could watch stage performances. Unlike at the MongSanPo center, there were more cultural and recreational experiences we could participate in. The camp was really exciting and unique.” “The kids loved it, it was refreshing. Just like going to the beach, the atmosphere felt good. This was a very special experience for us.” “First of all the accessibility was ideal. It was easier for the many people who wanted to participate but previously could not. Also, we were glad that they could open the Leader Center and enable the other regional church members to look and share the same vision, and we devoted ourselves to prayer.” “I thought it was fantastic. We could avoid the hot climate and concentrate on worship.” “MongSanPo is wonderful, but here, the short distance relieved the pressure and that was great. Most of all, the sermons of overseer Ki-dong Kim was full of grace during the camp.” “I found it very different. To be honest, I have not been to the MongSanPo center for I always had to work, but this time, I could attend during the night by commuting. I learned that if men follow the word of God, grace and signs appear. I was deeply moved and shed a lot of tears.”

During the Summer Camp that took place at the Christian World Mission Center, the inspirational praise from the Friday Night Praise Team and the spiritual preaching of overseer Ki-dong Kim, made the Summer Camp a time full of abounding grace. Continuing on from the first phase of the Summer Camp, the second phase comprised of many events for the saints. For the second phase, not only was a swimming pool and a convenience store opened, but a Christian film presentation, a calligraphy program, a witness team, a soul music dance program, a performance by the Jesus Road Praise Team, and many other programs took place to comfort Sungrak people. Both the first and second phase of the Summer Camp were opportunities in which the theme Jesus Christ’s Healing and Holy Signs could be experienced in the fullness of God’s grace.

Amidst the various troubles in the church, this was a special time for the Sungrak people, who love the church, to gather together on their knees and pray to the Lord in tears. Moreover, on the first week of August, overseer Ki-dong Kim mentioned in his pastoral address that he was stronger and healthier than ever. Summer Camp truly made God’s love towards the Sungrak people to be felt stronger than ever.
